East of the West (EOTW) is Anglo-American University’s (AAU) online academic journal. It is an outlet for exceptional work done by its students and faculty. This work includes, either in excerpts or whole texts, theses, articles, and essays written by outstanding scholars, established and aspiring, inside the AAU network.
EOTW features two blogs, a news section and an editor’s column. The former is a weekly roundup of linked stories, reports, and events curated by AAU editors and contributors; the latter is a short blog entry written by an EOTW editor, opining on a current issue or topic of interest.
EOTW’s special features are text or video interviews with professionals doing work that involves or expands on topics studied in AAU courses. In the same vein, Prague festivals and symposiums are selectively covered and documented. These appear on a monthly basis.
EOTW also hosts the beginnings of AAU’s web radio, dubbed |radio| SPACE, which publishes “cloudcasts” on a variety of themes and subjects; from live recordings of spoken word, readings, and music performances, to lectures and special announcements that have taken place at the university. |radio| SPACE also publishes music reviews of new and upcoming work, as well as faculty-contributed legacy reviews of personal favorites in a special section called On Repeat. |radio| SPACE will eventually expand to include playlists and live streaming audio.
Special Thanks:
EOTW’s existence is by and large due to the cooperation, guidance, and soul of the following AAU staff and alumni: Erica Carlino, Tony Ozuna, Lenka Turečková, Milan Fučík, Rachel Danna, Zuzana Hronková, and Natalya Dotsenko.
